Start somewhere.
Almost everything has more to it than meets the eye.
What this is
This is a growing archive of ideas, analysis, and attempts to understand how systems work and how they could work better.
Within it are studies of companies, organizations, technologies, and other systems worth looking at more closely. Some trace how things work beneath the surface. Some return to companies and systems that failed, exploring the paths that led there and what they might have done to survive. Others begin with an observation, a question, or an idea, and gradually take the form of a framework, an architecture, an analogy, or something else entirely, sometimes built to study a system, sometimes just an idea worth having on its own.
There is no fixed method for entering the archive. Each subject brings its own shape, and the work follows it. A question may lead to an answer, another question, or somewhere unexpected. The point is not to force every subject into the same structure, but to give each one enough room to reveal what is worth seeing.
Nothing here should be considered sealed away. The archive grows, but it also changes. Old pieces may be revisited. Ideas may become clearer, stranger, weaker, or more useful with time. New information can alter an argument; a better way of seeing something can make an older one worth rewriting. That, too, belongs to the record.
Over time, the hope is to gather a body of work worth wandering through, a place to encounter systems, failures, and ideas not as finished objects, but as things that can be looked at again. And perhaps, after looking closely enough, to leave with the quiet sense that they did not have to be exactly as they were. Maybe there is another way. Maybe we can do better.
